The students were hitting Caga Tío the “pooping log”. Most schools in Barcelona are teaching in Catalan. Most schools celebrate the Catalan tradition by decorating a wooden log with a face and legs. They cover it with a blanket to keep it from getting cold.

Children gather around the log and start to beat it with sticks. While they whack, they sing a song asking the log to poop out candy or presents for them. Once the song is finished, they pull back the blanket to discover a treasure trove of hidden presents or candy!

The song the children sing to Cage Tio- “Pooping log”
